I want to be ready for next show season?
I want to be ready for the next upcoming show season, and i would like to look into making my own western show shirt, i don't know which colors would look best though, i have a dark bay.i was thinking like maybe a dark blue, but i just don't really Know What fabric and color, so if you could give me a few color/design suggestions and fabric suggestions, that would be great. and if you could put a picture of the design, that would be great too. Thanks much
Be careful making your own--tiny mistakes can look tacky in the show ring. But if you have the skill for it, try it--my mother makes show clothes and does a good job. In her case, she'll model the shirt after one we find in a catalog or store or on someone--using a similar design and/or color scheme. It's just easier when you have an idea of what it should look like. Stretchy fabrics can be easier to fit. Leather looks nice for yokes or designs on the shirts. You Can order crystals to put on the shirt, but be prepared to spend some money for the nicer ones. It costs my mother several hundred dollars, usually, to make a show shirt if she gets the nice stuff (which looks better in the end).

Very simple material--just thin fabric you'd get at any fabric store. Her cuffs are detachable as she wasn't sure if she wanted any--so she can remove them if she decides she doesn't want to use them during a class.

I would start with a simple pattern--something like a zip-up, solid colored base with a colored yoke on top--and go from there.
