What are the advantages/disadvantages of a Blue Ray disc?
What are the adavantages and/or disadvantages of a Blue Ray disc? Whats the difference between a Blue Ray disc and a normal DVD? Can you do more cool stuff with Blue Ray? Does it cost more?

There are no real disadvantages with Blu Ray. It costs more, especially the discs. About twice as much as a standard DVD. This isn't really manufacturing costs, the companies just feel you'll pay more for the higher resolution.
Other than that, a Blu Ray disc will hold about twice as much information. This allows room for the extra information needed to store the higher definition picture. There are other features such as interactive parts and access to the internet but that's not really part of the disc. You Can do that with a standard DVD. It all boils down to the room on the disc to store the information. A Blu Ray uses a blue laser because that color can read small bits. This is one way that more room is available for more data. The Blu Ray is also dual layered. It can have information in two discrete layers inside the disc. Standard only has one layer for information.
